Just a little bit more

I have a 2017 Versys 300. Its got almost enough power. Its got enough power when its just me, but typicaly Im hauling 20 pounds or more of gear. How much power could I reasonably gain from an aftermarket exhaust? Would it be noticable, would it be worth the expense?

I doubt you will get a measurable improvement with just a change in exhaust. An engine is an air pump, and to increase throughput, the intakes have to change, too. Unfortunately, that often increases power in one rpm range at the expense of another, and often reduces overall ride-ability.
Ok, not worth the cost gotchya. Thanks. Dont want to make my mpg any worse for that matter anyway. Ill just be stuck with it sounding like a childrens toy.

I just came from a Ninja 300, so I'm thinking the engines are very similar, if not the same. While an aftermarket exhaust won't increase power, it will reduce weight and sound so much better! Your best bet to increase low to mid range pull is to either drop a tooth on your front sprocket or go up 2-3 teeth on the rear. The only real downside to that mod is that it lowers your top speed and throws off the speedometer, but there are fixes for that (check out SpeedoDRD). Hope that helps!
They are the same engine, different exhuast and cam's get the versys to hit peak torque about 500 rpm lower with a slightly lower red line too. ( if memmory serves) I have already ruled out changing gearing. I primarily run up and down interstate to commute to work. Im not willing to go down and loose speed, or up and loose more torque. The sound is purely cosmetic. Im not worried about that. Ive an added skid plate, ebgine gaurds, fog lights panniers and more to come a pound or two off from the exhaust wont help much. i typicaly have a 20 -25 pound bag full of gear too. Im the one that needs to go on a diet. ?
