I read in a post on another site that you shouldnt wear synthetic materials (ie. under armour) under leathers due to the material melting from the friction and heat generated during a slide.

Is there any validity to this?

i dont know about the material melting, i know there is friction though, i just posted on the other topic that i recieved friction burn through my jacket when i crashed, even though the jacket remained perfectly intact in that section. it was also the most painfull of my woudns. so extreeme friction does accur.
