It's clear we get stupid in our old age. I'm only 56 and I've had one helluva time trying to figure out the best way to hook a radar detector, ANY detector, up to a Sena SMH10 Bluetooth Headset.

Maybe those of you who have actually done it can elaborate.

Apparently SOME SMH10 units, or clamp kits contain an AUX input jack, mine doesn't. That's SOME of the confusion.....

Here is a Sena Support page that SORTA addresses the topic:

http://support.senabluetooth.com/entries/20702947-Audio-Mixing-

Right now it APPEARS to me that what's required is purchasing the Sena SR10 radio "hub," originally designed to accomodate Motorola 2-way radios & such, to get an audio input jack radar tones can come in on.

The problem being, once the detector squawks, it locks up the intercom so you can't warn other riders.....discussed at length on that URL..

For a mere $179, of course. Plus another $60, I believe, for the Valentine one Remote Audio controller....

Now MANY radar Mfr's are adding bluetooth TO their boxes, including Valentine, but it's not clear if they will pair with the Sena.....anyone know?

Here's a $29 bluetooth TRANSMITTER that could possible be used to create some sort of home-brew interface between a detector and the Sena..... designed to plug into ANY audio device with a stereo minijack...

The obvious solution would be if you could hit one of the two buttons on the Sena (Jog or phone) and disconnect the radar detector tone input for 10-30 seconds, long enough to use the Intercom to warn others in the group.

Anyone else struggling with trying to hook Radar to Bluetooth headsets?

Maybe I'm the only motorcyclist who speeds and wants my music interrupted by radar detector tones, lol...

Remote Radar Alert Indicators...

Maybe you need some sort of separate notification setup from your radar detector, like a single independent ear bud just for it.
That's actually the direction I'm going.

This thing puts an LED right near your eyeball. I'll review it once installed and run past a few local radiating constabulary...

Another commenter on another forum suggested this:

I guess there's gonna be no getting out of buying a $60 remote audio box for my Valentine one, even though the thing's 20 years old and desperately needs updated electronics/firmware.

I'm now looking at yet ANOTHER path to get radar detector tones INTO a bluetooth headset.

The J&M Integrator can combine, and prioritize numerous audio channels, which could THEN be fed into the single audio jack input on a bluetooth like the Sena.

J&M sells this Valentine one cable --- it ain't cheap....

The other direction I"m looking is this: A $29 bluetooth transmitter that can be plugged into any audio source ---- Like the Valentine One remote audio box --- many of these turn themselves off if they don't get audio signal, this one stays on, fortunately....

This, of course, would require buying the Remote Audio box from Valentine, another $60, .....
