Saturday was a fun day on 2 wheels!
I woke up before the chickens, got my Indian Pursuit ready and then it was KSU from my house at 0515, my friend Ron and I rode about 100 miles to Cosmos Indian near Philadelphia, then after breakfast at the dealership we had a huge group ride to NJ Motorsport park in Millville to watch the Indian Wrecking crew compete in the King of the Baggers races. No escorts, no police, just a couple of very aggressive blockers and a slightly deranged ride leader.. a Philadelphia style group ride for sure
. Having 100 Indians roaring down i95 through Philly at about 85 mph was a sight to see and hear, we shook the ground!
The races were fun to watch even if Indian lost to Harley, and it was cool to hang out with the 3 members of the Indian Wrecking Crew between the races. It's amazing how they can throw those big bikes around on the track, the bagger races weren't all that much slower than the sport bike heats! The weather was gray but the rain held off till after the races, then it showered a bit and stopped, we rode home under threatening skies but only a couple drops of rain fell, we were home in time for a late dinner. I did push my fuel range a bit on the way home, I stropped 3 miles from my house for gas, I put 5.94 gallons in a 6 gallon tank, if it's accurate I had .04 gallons left
Besides meeting the race team riders we also had a special guest at the dealership and in our ride, we had the honor of riding with Pat Cornell who has just completed an amazing 145,000 mile ride in 145 days on a Pursuit. This is the guy I was posting about a while back, I had no idea he was going to be there, it was a very cool surprise when i rolled into the dealership and I recognized his bike right away. His poor Pursuit, it was brand new 6 months ago, now it's got 150,000 miles and has never been washed, it looks like it's been through a war but it just keeps on going. He has some interesting mods on that bike to help with the long distance riding, it was fun to see it in the flesh and meet him.
