As some of you know, I just got my first Harley earlier this year, a 2012 Super Glide Custom, a FXDCI, I think. Anyhow, since buying the thing, I've been doing some internet reading and also reading on some of the Harley Davidson forums just trying to learn more about the bike.

Somewhere I remember reading in 2006 (I think) there was a frame change for the Super Glide, (maybe the whole Dyna line) and it's remained the same frame up to 2017 (I think). Anyhow the frame remained the same through the 2012 model which is what I've got.

Today I started looking for a Highway bar, engine guard, crash bar, take your pick. Now I'm not mixing in Fat Bobs and Wide Glides and Low somethings, but I can't figure out why there's bars for '08 to '10 model Super Glides and then for '12 and up models? Or it fits FXDC but not FXDCI. If you got an '11 I guess you're just SOL.

I can see some won't fit with forward controls. I guess they use the same mounting holes or something, but why won't one for an '06, that uses U-bolts on the down tubes, why won't it fit everything on up if the frame is the same? I just don't get it.

I've got a bunch of oak trees in the yard, chain, nylon straps, a come a long and a one ton, 4 wheel drive truck that will pull stumps. I'm thinking I'll just get a highway bar (that should fit) and make it fit (if it don't). I think I can do that.

Mine still has the mid controls which I'm fine with. I have seen the FXDC & FXDCI designations but I also read that when all the Harleys got fuel injection, the "I" was dropped.
Those factory Harley highway bars look real nice, but I've been trying to find something in the bargain bin, just haven't found that $49.95 special yet. But I appreciate your time Zebraranger, now I know if it fits a '07, '08, '09' or '10 it will also fit my '12.

I think you still come out ahead. I just ordered the new bar off Amazon. Most of the reviews were good. Some complained the bolt head is too small. I guess they think washers are only for clothes.

Some complained about the U bolts and loose foot pads. I don't think either is a problem I can't fix, if I have too.

Now I better not get anything else for myself now, don't know what Christmas might bring. Ho Ho Ho!!!
