I looked at the shelf in my big closet and see 9 helmets sitting there. Two are modular (mine and my wife's), two are 3/4 (again mine and my wife's) and the other 5 are ones that look perfectly usable but are older and I don't use them anymore. But I just can't get myself to throw them out when they look almost as good as new. I would have had even more had I not cut the straps on several and let my grandkids use them when they play and make believe that their bicycles are motorcycles. I know I could get rid of the 5 I don't use, but part of me thinks "what if I damage one of my "good" ones, then I have a backup if I save these". All of this made me look again in my storage closet where I keep my motorcycle gear during the winter. I almost don't want to say how many different motorcycle jackets are hanging there, even though there are only two that I use regularly (there are six hanging in the closet). I wish I had been able to save some of my old bikes instead of just saving jackets and helmets, and, yes, a million pairs of gloves (and I have yet to find the "perfect" winter, or summer gloves). Now I will evaluate my old boots......

Having just returned to the sport a little over a year ago my collection is still small: one helmet, two jackets, four pairs of gloves, two pairs of boots, two pairs of riding pants. But I can definitely sense that within me lies the potential to build a sizable collection. I visited Iron Pony Motorsports in Columbus OH yesterday for the first time. God, keep me away from that place if I ever have some money burning a hole in my pocket!

Same here, I have a hard time getting rid of the older helmets. I have seven helmets with the oldest being two Scorpion Exo 900 modular transformer helmets that I purchased in 2013, the other five helmets are pretty current and within the safer age limit. The other helmets are a Lazer Monoco Carbon fiber modular, a couple of Bell 3/4" helmets, a Bell Rogue helmet and a Cycle Gear Bilt brand modular helmet. I'm in the same boat with riding jackets, I have seven of them. I keep most of the gear in the moto-room room which holds two of the three bikes. The Harley is usually in the garage.

How many helmets in your "collection"?
Ten. All full face.
I only have one that is new enough to wear, and it's past due for replacement.
It would be twelve but I "loaned" one out and destroyed one after it hit the pavement because I crashed wearing it.
I could not believe how hard that thing was to break using a sledge hammer.

I have 2, both full face, I only use one, a 4 year old $600 Arai, the other is my old one, a 6 or 7 year old $50 Bilt. I keep the spare for days when I'm washing the liner in my good helmet, etc.
I have loaned the spare out to my daughter who wanted to ride her Mom's spare bike one day on an impromptu family ride and didn't have gear with her, and to a friend who I took for a ride as a passenger.

My wife has her Arai full face, and a couple of old half helmets that never get used. She had a modular too but it was falling apart so we threw it out when we moved.

Got 3 but use only 2. A modular and a half helmet are my use all the time ones. The half helmet is only used for escorts. That third helmet just sits there probably to never be used again. I retired it after 6 years to move up to a slightly better one.

I have 3 soon to be 4. 2 are for the dirt/single track and one is a Bell Qualifier full face for the street. The older dirt helmit I will keep if anyone wants to ride with me on the back of the street bikes(took 2 years but finally got it smelling nice will never buy a helmet without a removable liner again). I will be looking for a new full face helmit, one year with the Bell is enough, not Snell, too loud and the visor flips up on shoulder checks. Love the look and fit of it though flat grey with orange.

Five, all open face or 3/4. Six if you count the one in the shop with the bird nest in it, (don't wear it anymore, crash damage). Two have chin bars on them but they're removable and they don't offer the protection of a full face helmet.

Three jackets and three pair of boots and more t-shirts than I care to go count right now.

Hmmm, I have 2 MC and 2 snowmobile. Wife has 1 MC and 1 snowmobile. Kids have a total of 3 snowmobile. There may be a couple of smaller ones on the shelf that the kids have grown out of. I didn't think there were that many!

Not counting motocross helmets, I've got 5. 2 are older and won't be used again, but are works of art graphically, one a Shoei, the other an Arai. The other 3 are a pair of Shoes Air GT and an HJC FG-17, all of which I use.

I did recently clean out my garage and threw away 4 like new helmets. Like new but old, 1 white, 2 black and a yellow. Also threw away a pair of Alpinestar boots that had started cracking at the shifter point.

I just went through an laundered all my riding pants and jackets. I really need to get rid of most of them. My favorite jacket is getting pretty ratty. Fortunately, it was one jacket I really liked and bought a duplicate that I just started wearing last year. Not quite the same since it doesn't have all my destination patches on it.

My assortment of motocross gear is gonna take some time to go through...
