Hello I just purchased this bike and I'm going through it. It looks okay / complete.
Can anyone tell me what this thing is? It looks like some sort of cable used to be hooked up to it.
It sits on top of the engine on the RH side.

A guess: maybe the tachometer drive. Many 1980s Hondas used a cable drive for the tach.

It is a cable or was a cable to drive the tach.

You guys beat me to it. I was going to suggest the same thing.
Besides having no tach, having it disconnected like that may give you an oil leak.
Does the bike run?
