hi i own a 1980 cm400a i have a no spark i have figured it out that my stator is bad but cant find a stator other then the honda site that wants $470 for one i heard a rumor if u get the cm400t stator with rotor it will work in a cm400a can anyone tell me if this is true thanks for any help u can give me sincerly, hondaboy

Check the part number. If it's the same, it will work.

Stator Part Number CM400A - 31100-417-014
Stator Part Number CM400T - 31100-443-720

What makes you think its your stator? The CM400 uses a CDI ignition system that runs independent (uses AC voltage) from the DC electrical system. It is designed this way as to have power to keep the motor running with a dead battery.

I would look first for a dirty, corroded or loose connection. Then for a dead ignition coil.
