Heat wave in the Midwest

Its supposed to get into the mid 90's today through Sunday, with heat indexes in the 100 degree range. I'm going to the motorcycle shop this AM to get a new center stand put on, but then I plan on coming right home to the air conditioning. When it was this kind of weather all summer long in south Texas I would not even think about taking the bike out of the garage.

Been 100*+ all week here. About time we had a real summer. Been below average for several years.

Sent while on the road.
Been 100*+ all week here.

Perhaps, but wee only see 100º+ once every five years. Y'all are more used to it.

I didn't ride myself, but was surprised by how many people I did see out riding, given the heat, many with no gear other than a helmet.
That's how I ride all summer long: Half helmet, jeans, and t-shirt.

I'd pass out and wreck trying to wear a bunch of gear.
I did get out for about a 2 hour, 100 mile ride, getting home just as it was getting really hot. Today and tomorrow look way to hot, with the humidity up to unreal levels already by 7 Am this morning.
Going to be in the "heat factor of 110 deg here in north Central Indiana today 6-30-18. I will be out in it riding finally putting Winger to a more definite test since the week after next will be going to Saint Peters, Missouri and once there would be very difficult to do repairs on Winger. Was hoping for a cooler shakedown but riding is riding will have my skin covered not going to burn up in the sun.
It has been 95 or so all week but hit 100 for a while yesterday with a 110 heat index. Even though temps remain high into the night, for some reason the Humidity just isn't there like in some southern areas.

I leave at 8 AM when it's relatively cool and then return by 1 pm or so, while it still not too hot.:smile_big:

Sam:nerd:
We went for a ride at about 11:30pm here in Ohio.

Well we FINALLY got a break today. I'm watching it pour right now. Was thinking of taking a ride but it sorta put a stop to that. Nice to finally get a little rain and break in the heat. But tomorrow it will be miserably humid as the heat returns. I'll take one day of real relief any day here in Texas.

July 2nd and it was nice this morning. But I decided that I had to something good for my heart so I went for a 12 mile bike ride, as in bicycle while it was halfway cool. Did 12.1 in 56 minutes flat, which seems OK for a 75 year old with 1 lung, i kidney, quintuple heart bypasses and two fake knees. By the time I cooled down, showered and got dressed to go for a motorcycle ride it was getting quite hot. I went out, but came home in 30 minutes since the air was like an oven. Won't be able to ride at all tomorrow, but hoping by Thursday the weather is more pleasant for riding.

I never could stand the heat very well, but I can take it [on a motorcycle]OK so long as I am in a 100% cotton hoodie. The hoodie keeps the sun from heating my skin and the cotton evaporates the sweat. I also had to dodge in between three rain clouds to get home by constantly changing direction and managed to stay pretty dry.

It looks like Friday will be much better with lower humidity.
I am in Alabama from North Carolina today and it is flipping hot and muggy down here in Alabama.
We hit 102.8º(Davis Weather Station) again yesterday but with the rain we got the day before the humidity of 77% was a killer. And I'm mixing and working concrete. My T-shirt and shorts stayed as wet as if I hosed myself down. I should have but not until typing this did I even think about cooling off that way. Didn't need to really because I was already saturated and very little wind. It was just plain hot as hell. Not supposed to be that hot today. I'm too old to be doing this kind of work but it needed to get done. Horsing 80 pound bags of cement around in this heat isn't fun. Whoever built my house and porch must have been a giant. I got tired of stepping up so high so added two 4 foot steps. Much much nicer now. But am I ever paying for it now.

Take it easy Hog!!! I don't want my first trip to your neck of the woods to be for a funeral!!!

Well this oughtta give all you Midwesterners a chuckle. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend recently moved to Nixa, Missouri, to be closer to her mom. They live in a trailer park there. For about two months we were hearing about how they were barely escaping tornadoes. Now he is complaining of the heat. He didn't appreciate it so much when I told him that summer isn't even here yet ;)

For those of you scoring at home, if you move to Missouri in search of a cheaper cost of living, and find yourself living in a mobile home with no A/C, you should probably think about the fact that EVERYONE told you it would be hot and humid before you left the nice cool PNW. Just saying
All I know is in the last week have been from Saint Paul Minnesota to Simpsonville South Carolina to Brundidge Alababa to Saint Joseph Misouri all the way over to Nassau New York, and it has been hot. Just the same sticky hot at all places. This next week though for when I go to Missouri on Winger it is expected to only be in the lower 80's.
