I bought my '98 Valkyrie Tourer three years ago, with 37k miles, and it's been great. Having a DigiSync to balance all six carbs makes it as smooth as a Rolls, and lets all the power out. I've used it to pull a 700 pound camping trailer to Deal's Gap and western Virginia without issue, and am planning another trip to the Dragon for later this summer. A great bike on the super slab or in the twisties, once you get used to the weight in the turns.

Well, you could get on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which a friend from CT rides from that end. Nice, mostly out-of-the-way ride, and 50mph the whole way. It gets real interesting once you pass Asheville. I recommend staying at the Iron Horse, near the Gap; great for camping in plain tents, bigger tents, RVs, and they have cabins, too. If the name doesn't give it away, it is primarily for MC riders.

Fontana Village is nice - spent two Solstice weekends there.

If you could make In-Zane, there would be several riders there with the sync tool I mentioned. I can't make it this year, but the VRCC group is a great bunch.
