I have a nice GS850 that was donated to me. My experience with bikes has been limited primarily to the KZ family. The guy that gave me the bike said that he stopped riding it when he saw gas coming out of the air box. I assumed this meant that the carbs had a float issue. I pulled the carbs and cleaned them, put the bike back together and it ran great. After about 10 minutes of running I noticed gas dripping from the air box. I found that the breather hose was misting it back into the airbox from the breather. First of all, I am not familiar with the breather, should there be fuel blowing back? Second, if not what could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Your breather has nothing to do with your problem. you have a carbuirator problem here. it's leaking inside your air box.

Check the oil and make sure there is no fuel in there. If there is fuel, dump the oil. Do not start it.

what year 850? CV carbs or VM carbs?

Get on the gsresources website and ask this question there. you'll get it sorted out in no time.

Good luck.
