Earlier this year, google petitioned California DMV for permission to test riderless automatic motorcycles on public streets.

The google driverless car design calls for no steering wheel or pedals (but there will be an in-dash screen for ads!).
Can't imagine the extra stability measures a bike would need to compensate for a shifting rider...

All my other google issues aside, I can't see anything good about this.

Ok... NOW I understand why Google is trying to build driverless cars!

They want you to be able to surf the Internet more, and see more ads.

For some reason, I never thought of this. Duh. I thought it was just couple of super wealthy dudes playing around with cool toys.

So you can surf porn and drive/ride at the same time!
Yeah... what sux is how everything is going touch screen nowdays. So long to the days of munching a bag of Doritos while trolling on 4chan! *sadface*

I am not sure I can see how a driverless/riderless motorcycle would even work. There's so much active control necessary even if you incorporate automatic shifting. Too many manhole covers and gravel patches, all sorts of obstacles and hazards. It would be an interesting thing to see work, but I doubt it's feasible until computer AI is significantly more advanced than it is now.

We should have seen this coming.

Honda created robots that can walk and climb stairs. Then we see these robots out jogging and dancing. Hey!! They're having more fun than we are!

I don't want my motorcycle out on the highway without me! Stop Google now!

If they can make it completely stable, and super difficult to hack, I think it could be a good thing. Fewer tailgaters, drunk or sleepy drivers, etc. would be a welcome change.

a motorcycle umm that's interesting... not even sure how that would work. Its a good thing google is really a company that focus on making new things and testing, but not actually selling.

Now the google car that had no pedals or steering wheel was a car that google used to advertise the driveless cars and allowed people to get in to take it for a "test drive" to experience. Also, the cars had a 25MPH speed limit. In a interview they said they have no plans to making real driveless cars without wheels/pedels

Either way i pretty positive minded about driveless cars over idiots
