A Cache is a treasure u leave for others to go find using a GPS....
When i was able to hike i put a bunch on mountain tops n other places with scenic views.
Now i have health issues, and have to keep the caches i put out in easier areas.
These are most times a small container with a logbook for people to sign, and then post to the site it's hosted on that they found it.
Such as:
https://www.geocaching.com/play

http://www.terracaching.com/Home/AboutTerraCaching

http://www.opencaching.com/en/

I have a few off roads now i put out easily found.

Wondered if anyone else was into caching..?

I see u have to be logged into the site now to view the cache....
Never used to be that way....
It's free to sign up anyway....

Lots of people use a smartfone with gps these days.....
I don't have a smartfone, but have 4 gps's.....
Usually the cache will also have hints to where it mite be.
Using the gps co-ords u can also use a map to locate the cache area.
Then use the hints to look around...
Sometimes they are hidden very well.....
Like say a knot hole in a tree.....
Tucked into a guardrail out of side with magnetic key holder....
Maybe in a crack of a large rock.....
Some are even under water.....
I've found them on the back side of road signs.....
Some of mine just have a code in them u have to Email to me to have ur post left on the site.
Not enough room 4 a logbook....
The bigger ones i usually put trinkets for the kids...sometimes some change i have....

I think the idea of geocaching is pretty cool, and have thought of trying it; but I don't really know where to start.
Incorporating the scoot would be a cool excuse to go riding. Of course, I would need to get a GPS

Yep I've been Geocaching for years (since 2003), great fun! I'm up to 342 found so far, some pretty far away.

Caching on a motorcycle is also a very well connected & fun way to blend two interests together.

If you guys want to learn about Geocaching then go to their website watch some videos & learn a bit. Next, punch in your home location & see how MANY Geocaches are hidden all around you! That'll entice you to go look for the nearest one!

Eye, yes there are a few people Geocaching "old skool" by using compass & topo maps :) No excuse from you not to go grab a cache or 2!
