New to motorcycles but an avid car mechanic. I recently picked up an 05 Suzuki s40 for 500$. Gas tank is pretty messed up. I found a good deal on a 2014 s40 tank but don't know if it will fit. it looks almost identical in the pics. can anyone help me out?

Check the manufacturer's part number. If they are the same, it should fit without issue.

Of course, just about any tank can be made to work with a little modification.

Ok here is a website for the OEM fuel tank on your '05 Suzuki S40

And here is the same website for the OEM fuel tank for a '14, S40

If you look at the part number, the number itself is the same, the color scheme letter designation is the only thing different. I would say that they SHOULD be interchangable. You would likely have to paint it to match what's on your bike.

Hope this helps
