Fuel Cap Vibrates - Very Noisy!

3632 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Unkle Krusty
The sound of the new Milwaukee Eight V-Twin engine in recent model Harley Davidson motorcycles is absolutely musical. It is just a hoot to listen to that engine sing through the gears. Except for one thing. The wayward and misplaced high pitched snare drum of the fuel cap vibrating in the midst of an otherwise perfect mechanical symphony. Drives me nuts.

Has anyone dealt with a noisy and distracting fuel cap vibration? Any ideas how to quiet the thing?

Remove the baffles from the exhaust?

If you can hear your fuel cap rattle over the roar of a Milwaukee Eight V-Twin engine, you should sell that as an option!

Loud fuel caps save lives!

Yeah, and I was going to say, turn up the radio.
Is it possible to install a more squishable gasket? Probably better than a leather belt, or bungee cord over the tank. I have never heard of this unique problem.
