Free Car or Motorcycle VIN Check for "Totaled" or "Stolen" events.

Question came up in another thread about checking old bike VIN's. I posted a site I use to check for "Totaled" or "Stolen" insurance events. I then searched this forum and found nothing for the site...so here it is!

"NICB's VINCheck is a free service provided to the public to assist in determining if a vehicle has been reported as stolen, but not recovered, or has been reported as a salvage vehicle by cooperating NICB member insurance companies. To perform a search, a vehicle identification number (VIN) is required. A maximum of five searches can be conducted within a 24-hour period per IP address."

I've used this site countless times and have caught plenty of individuals, and DEALERS, lying about "clean titles"...keep it handy...it will save you a ton of headache eventually.

PS> Moderators...consider this for a "sticky" position?...Anyone buying a motorcycle should run the VIN through this site...as I said, I've used it to catch a lot of lies about VIN's being "clean".

I religiously use that site for VIN checking. I would approve of this as a sticky! It's certainly a lot quicker and easier than having your local cop shop run a VIN. :)
