I rode the 400 to the big island yesterday aftn. Came home in the dark about 9:45 It had dropped in to the thirties. The head light is good on that bike, but needs adjusting. Meanwhile behind me a friend in a Mercedes van has headlights that are really bright, and driving lights that are brighter still. From 1/2 mile behind they are blinding in my mirrors. He passed me on a long straight stretch, and I was able to follow him at a faster speed than I had been doing. At night we can run down the middle of the road. There are no street lights so anyone coming from ahead or a side street can be seen in plenty of time. There was zero other vehicles over a ten mile stretch. He has to turn the driving lights off if going slow, they can melt the pavement ahead.
