I have a 2007 Lifan LF200GY-2 which is a chinese bike. Kick starter works great but the electric started started to go slowly untill it just stopped working altogether. So now when i try to use it all that happens is the nuetral light dims a little. I talked to two mechanics who both said to replace it or clean and rebuild it. I'm good at learning quick and dont like to pay for other people to do something i might be able to do. So how would i go about rebuilding the electric starter for my bike?

Test the battery first; a starter really pulls the power from it, and can easily kill a battery that isn't being fully recharged.
Three years is a very short time for a starter to need service, so if it IS the starter, it must be cheap ****. Symptoms like that usually indicate worn bearings, or dried-out or absent grease in the output gear train, if it has one.
