Hey all,

Looking to remove the rear wheel on my 96 Savage, and following the steps in my MOM. Up to the point where I need to remove the drive belt upper cover. I've removed the two bolts (front and rear), and now need to lift up from the rear of the cover to remove, but it seems to be stuck at the bracket where the rear bolt was.

I pulled on it for a while but couldn't get it to budge. Any hints for success?

Thanks a bunch,

Matt

I'm not specifically familiar with that model's cover. I would try to find out exactly where it is binding and look closely at what is blocking it from moving. These are often made of flexible materials that can get slightly bent out of shape, causing them to lock into place. Carefully prying the attachment points away from the frame might do the trick. Use only the minimum force necessary in order to not break anything.

Thanks Dodsfall, as it turns out there was a piece that was being held on by the left shock absorber. Loosened the lower nut and it came right off.
