Do I really need to replace my helmet after this fall?

So earlier today I fell of my bike off-road and face planted into the dirt. I was going very slow only about 5 mph and want to know if I need to replace it for an off-road crash? I literally got this brand new for $200 2 days ago after I crashed on the street two weeks ago and don’t want to have to keep going through helmet left and right.

No you don't need to replace it. If you weren't injured there couldn't have been enough compression to the lining to cause anything to worry about.

Go out and go for a ride and don't sweat it.
Quit running into things, and you won't have to worry about it.
I think you need to ask yourself, "Why am I crashing so much?"

He loves dirt so much, he wants to eat it:grin:

Well if you're not going to run into things and crash then you wouldn't need a helmet, silly. :wink2:
I'm with the rest of them the big question is why do you keep falling this is the real question!
As for the helmet if it is not damaged don't replace it. If it has a chip or a deep scratch I would be concerned specially with your affinity for falling!
If you take a helmet and remove the liner (the one you can wash), you'll see the eps liner (the styrofoam type stuff that saves your head). Now take your finger and push on that inner liner. Don't do this on a new helmet or your current one that you use. Do it on an old one if you have one laying around. You'll see just how easily it can be damaged. It all depends on how you crash. Ex: Say your forehead hit the ground. If you keep wearing that helmet and hit around that area again, you could be screwed. That's why they offer inspections. BTW, I'm not Mr. Safety. I keep my helmet more than 5 years too sometimes
