cluth slave cylinder

Hi again,I figured out which way the thin washer goes into the housing for the clutch slave cylinder,and there is a notch in it about an inch wide.I just dont knoe if the notch goes to the bottom or a little to the right or a little to the left.Can someone please help me figure it out,Thanks Jeff
