Choosing next bike

I'm thinking of getting a new bike to replace my XR150 (as it's quite underpowered and not enough for me already). Unfortunately, all the 300-400cc bikes available in here cost some crazy money. So, I was offered a used Suzuki DR650 for a reasonable price.
Do you think this leap would be too huge?

I can't create a new post since I haven't made 3 posts first..so here's my first. Why not consider Honda cbr300r or a cbr250r? They give just enough real practical " ummph" for interstate travel without killing your mpg unless you keep it at 80mph or 90mph at all times on the interstate highway. From what some have told me. the cbr250r can net you up to 95mpg if ridden at 55 to 60mph with less than 215 pounds on the bike with consistent easy gradual acceleration and sticking to 60mph or under on the highway.

Personally, I'm torn between getting a 2013( last year they made the cbr250r before going to a 286cc engine for the 300r they currently have been selling for now 4 years) with abs for $3800 brand new ( show room indoor's kept bike) zero miles....or $2300 for 2013 with 700 ish miles with no abs. Either way I'd have to pay around 350 to 400 to get it shipped to me.

Your thoughts?

In general, the number of cylinders has more to do with producing horsepower than displacement.

For example, a modern 650cc single cylinder produces about 1/3 the horsepower of a 600cc inline 4. The DR650 will produce about 43hp maximum while a 600cc supersport can generate about 120hp.

A 1200cc vtwin might generate a little more than 1/2 the horsepower of a 600cc supersport.

Engine configuration is the biggest determining factor where power is concerned in most cases.
