whenever I ride for an extended period of time on the freeway my battery acid spills out. I hooked up a voltage meter in the garage and reved the engine up to 6000 rpms. The voltage was at around 18!

Im not certain but I don't think its sappose to do that? Is this a bad Rectifier/Regulator?

Thanks,
Jonathan

That would be my guess. If you have a service manual it should tell you in there how to test it. A bad battery will also make a bike overcharge. The regulator will think that the battery needs more voltage due to it showing a low voltage when really it doesn't.
