Howdy, newbie rider here with bare minimum mechanical knowledge. I've got a 1981 Yamaha xj750 Seca. She broke down a couple months ago because of clogged carb and air filter. I replaced the air filter and cleaned the carb, doing my best to be very careful but I must've done something wrong. I put everything back together and she'll turn over everytime with ease but using the throttle kills it everytime. I don't need the choke to start it but if it is used at all, it'll redline in neutral. Pretty sure I just messed something up with my carb but I have no idea what. When I turn the throttle, the valves open and letting go they snap back into place. Any help would be wonderful, thank you.

Did you install one or more carburetor slides incorrectly and they are not closing? Look inside the mouth of the carburetor on the slide side. Or did you leave an intake vacuum line off?
