I bought an 84 gs450L last weekend, and got it running this weekend. The bike starts easy with out the choke and seems to run well. It revs up quickly and effortlessly, however the revs drop very slowly when returning to idle. I ordered a Haynes manual for it, but that won't arrive until next week. Any suggestions? I should also mention, the bike has been made into a bobber so it has no air box, and no air filters(I do plan on getting some pods, before I start riding it). It also has short, straight exhaust (no mufflers).

My guess is that the air mixture is too lean. Bigger jets are needed to compensate for the change in exhaust pressure and more open intake.
