a 12v dc system is a 12v dc system. Unless you have an old 6v bike(not two many of them around) then yes you can charge your bike with your car.
if you are not sure what voltage your electrical system is count the number of caps on your battery. each cell produces 2.2v therefor a 12v battery will have 6 fill caps

Thatsa not completely true... a car battery puts out way more amps then a motorcycle battery... I've started my bike by hooking it to my car battery before and it turns over so fast its insane... it cant be good for it if done for long.. trust me its not the same.

You can get a battery tender / charger for like $15, you'll need one if you buy a new battery anyway.... you should have one regardless.
