Please excuse my ignorance but i'm not very mechanically inclined. My bike has been sitting in the garage for nearly a year, w/old gas in the tank... so i took the gas out cleaned the carbs & got the bike running again. I took it for a 20 mile ride or so, parked in the garage and after i turned the bike off i noticed a gurgling/boiling sound near the engine... any ideas of what this could be?

thanks guys

btw its a 85 Shadow 700

No but I'm going to keep an eye on this thread because this sounds scary. Is your bike water cooled or air cooled?

its a water cooled bike...I talked w/ some dude @ autozone & he said that it could be that i have to much water mixed w/my coolant... causing it to boil... but i wasnt for sure... so i decided to post it on here to see anyone else thought.... last time i rode it for bout 80 miles... then i came back to the garage and i heard the sound again & my bike started peeing out coolant.... and the coolant wasnt very hot... it was luke warm... any suggestions???!

Yikes. I have no idea. I wish I could be of more help but I'm only familiar with air cooled bikes. Let me know what you find, for future reference. Thanks!
You should mix it 50/50 antifreeze/water. You may want to pick up the already mixed type because they don't use tap water or use the regular antifreeze mixed with distilled water which you can get at any drug store or grocery store. If ya got good tap water you can use it but don't use it from a water softening system with salts. test the antifreeze with an antifreeze tester. A good one will tell ya the boiling point and freezing point.

Next might cost a few bucks or at least some time, have the radiator cap tested to make sure it will hold pressure of 15 pounds or so. If it's good put the antifreeze mix in and try it out. Other things that it may be is a stuck thermostat or a blown head gasket allowing compression to leak into the cooling system. Sometimes that can happen and the only sign is bubbling through the cooling system. Make sure your radiator is clean through the core, the outside part I mean, so there are no bugs and dirt stuck in it. The inside should be flushed out before replacin' the antifreeze. Remove the hoses to do that or if ya want take the radiator off.

gurgling sounds

This really sounds like a thermostat problem, if your are only getting luke warm fluid, if it wwas circulating through the engine it would be HOT. Sounds like a stuck thermostat.

It's somewhere to start looking anyway. Hope it helps.
you too?

i make chicks gargle and bubble
congratulations, how does it feel to know you got gonorrhea? :)
Haha!

Figure out what was wrong with the bike?
