My coach from the BRC told us that the ERC is basically the same as far as advanced techniques go (Slalom, quick stop, accident avoidance, etc) but they just cut out the whole part where they teach you how to engage the clutch, shift, and all the other really basic stuff. Basically it is a finer polishing of the advanced techniques from the BRC is what I am getting at.

I would say you should give the ERC a shot. You are already past the basics and anything that they tell you safety wise from the BRC will carry over to the ERC.

 

Go for the erc. There are some added challenges though it is basically the same without the class time.

Hey all. I was just going to post a topic on the ERC, until I remembered to search first

Ok, so I understand that this is just a faster more aggressive BRC. However, I was just curious how much more advanced/aggressive is the ERC? Has anyone took the ERC and took a spill? What's the general course outline (agenda of drills)?

I have "love at first sight" syndrome with my bike right now, and don't feel like taking a spill on it just quite yet. Especially in the ERC.

Thanks all! I hope to take it, as it seems the ONLY time the ERC will be offered in my area is in April. It's a 1-day, 5hr thing for $90. And I KNOW, I know... who can place a price on safety. I CAN! I don't want to waste $90 if all the course turns out to be is having an instructor yelling at me while I make slow turns or something.

 

I took the ERC without first taking the BRC. I had only had my bike a couple of months, but had a couple thousand miles on it. The ERC class was excellent. I wish I had taken the BRC when I first got my bike, but I did just fine anyway. Lots of slow controlled maneuvering. You need to have good control of your bike. You'll do fine in the ERC.
