Anybody have any luck smoothing out an R1100 gearbox? Famously clunky but maybe a bright workaround? Different oil? Some kind of adjustment? 40,000 miles of clunk, clunk, clunk.

R1100RT 20 years old, 77,000 kilometers on the clock, putting the correct oil in the gear box certainly smoothed it out. Not saying it doesn't still find the occasional false neutral between 4th and 5th, but definitely smoother and quieter.

Mine did this as well as N light wouldn't come on right away. Changed oil seemed to fix it.
