Hi folks. Has anyone been there? I plan on going in a couple weeks. It starts October 3rd. It will be my first rally and wonder if anyone else has been there to give me a heads up about things.

greyboyfan - did you stay overnight? I've been looking for a place to stay, but most of them are full already. I'm bringing my tent so I can camp in someone's pasture if I have to. Their web page said there were over 350,000 visitors there last year. They also had a picture of that main street, and there's no way I would park in that mess! From the way that looked, I might have to pitch my tent in the street until the four days were over! :)

Yeah! We did stay overnight, though we hadn't planned to. Our group we rode down with had rooms, and their motel called around for us and got us in 1/4 mile away from our friends.
I bet if you asked around, there would be some biker friendly local, (and there are many) who wouldn't care if you pitched in their yard.
Heck, the locals lined the streets of the major routes to down town, and sat there on lawn chairs and blankets just to watch the parade of 350.000 riders come into town.
Kinda groovy!

I'll bet that was nice. We bring lots of money into the area, so it would be stupid for them to have a chip on their shoulders for bikers. We're going to wing it and hope we get lucky and walk into a hotel where someone didn't show up. If you see an old man on a silver C90T Boulevard with a little white platform built above the tank, that's me. Stop me and say hello! I'll be with this guy with a beard riding a new red Harley softtail. I'm the good looking one! :D

Zook, did you look at the pictures? It seems it's not going to be as wild as Sturgess has gotten, so it might be a better rally. I hope so. Did you read my previous comments on what I ride? You can't miss it with that little velcroed platform over my tank. I'll probably be the only one there with such a "mickey mouse" cup holder! If you make it, look for me and introduce yourself! Hope you make it!

Hey Zook, you can count on it raining, since this will be my first rally. Every time I've bought a new boat or motorcycle, the entire summer was rainy. This is no different. But, we can always stand in the rain and cry, can't we!

Hey, are you camping out, or staying in a hotel? I'm bringing my tent just in case.

Well, a bunch of us went down for the day Friday. Some guys from work and their spouses, and Me and my Wife. She rode her bike this time. She did alright, 'cept once in heavy traffic, her travel roll bag thingy fell open and her makeup bag fell out in the street. I recovered it for her. It only got ran over once. :)^)

Hope you guys found suitable camping. Dang! there was a lot of people! Couldn't ask for beter weather though.
Peace.

I went down Wednesday, and there weren't too many people there then. I guess I should have stayed, but I didn't. I got bored and went home that evening. I guess I missed all the fun, huh! Next year, I'll know what to expect and go down after the thing starts.
