the xs1100 doesn't idle right, it will idle too high or not high enough. I am thinking carb sync, vacuum leak or idle circuit. I just took it for a ride and it won't maintain speed very well- it loves to accelerate though. timing was spot on before I cleaned the carbs. what would be the best approach for such an issue.

the inner two carburetors had to be replaced due to the hole where the pilot screw sticks into the carb body was messed with and elongated. I hope it is fixed.

The xs is the race model. The idle is adjusted with the throttle. Adjust your twist grip with enough free play.

Idle

Do not adjust the idle with the throttle cable. Always have a bit of slack.
There is a throttle stop screw between the center carbs on the aft side.
Book says " Carburetors must be synchronized before setting final idle speed. The idle speed adjustment is made by turning only one throttle stop screw "

there is no more adjustment at the cable (as short as possible) and it won't idle below 1500 rpm.
