After today's ride, I was resting in front of the t.v. and flipping around. Spent about two minutes on Walking Dead and noticed something different. Oh, sure, they were still wandering around in the forest (only two guys at that moment) and somehow got into a car (something new). Zombies were all around the car pawing at the windows and growling (all of this is normal I presume), but they couldn't open the car doors. I could see the lock was open, so they could have if they knew how. I mean, don't the Zombies have teachers, or what?

Naturally, on the count of three, the two guys jumped out of the car and with their knives handy, wreaked havoc by easily splitting open the heads of the Zombies within reach. [By the way: I don't think I would want a job as one of the Zombies (if I were an extra in the program) since as they all look alike (you know, they all look like they tried to floss using a weedwhacker) and the "heroes" might accidently split my head open.]

Then, as usual it appears, they quickly closed a chain link gate and locked the Zombies behind it where they will obviously stay since they don't seem to know to climb over the fence (even though there was a tall stack of wooden pallets right next to the fence that they could have climbed on).

Why don't the "good guys" just leave the Zombies behind the fence (where I've seen them leave them a half dozen times in the past) so they wouldn't have to have these "close calls" where they just get through the gate in time? I mean, who are the dummies in this program anyway?

I think in the episode you are describing, the 2 "good guys" were trying to get into a canned foods factory to find supplies. They were surrounded by a "herd" of walkers and took refuge in the car. When they escaped the car they then ran back out and closed the gates behind them.

Yeah, they do some stupid stuff sometimes, but that's what keeps the show moving along.

Ron, you don't follow the series, so I understand your lack of knowledge about the show.

I have figured out what the attraction really is about The Walking Dead. It is psychological, and it is subliminal. It is deliberate.

Yes, the world is infested with rotting corpses, and your future is uncertain. Yes, you don't know where your next meal is coming from, or if you will make it through the night. Yes, you don't know when you will run out of ammo, or be unable to find another gallon of gasoline. Even with all of that, The Walking Dead shows us a world without overbearing GOVERNMENT sticking it's nose into every aspect of our lives, and people LIKE that. It holds a certain attraction and offered a level of freedom that even WE do not enjoy in our present day lives. We watch the show and think, "Gosh ... even though it seems the world had ended, it is still fairly more desirable than the world we live in now... I can &^*( whoever I want to, there are no speed traps, or stop lights, or cash registers, or phone bills ... It all sounds pretty good!"

If you want something, you TAKE it. If you don't like someone, you KILL him. There are no repercussions. No one to whom you must be held accountable. No one keeping score. No cops. No judges. No alarm clocks. No bills. No No IRS!!!

In reality, The Walking Dead is a show that is targeted specifically to a generation of people who grew up with video games, stealing cars, killing "bad guys,", raping women, making off with treasure chests full of gold, and moving about a virtual reality environment where there is no accountability for your actions. THAT is what The Walking Dead is selling. The Walking Dead is just a superb video game played out with real actors.

If one were a conspiracy theorist, one might conclude that TWD is no accident. One might conclude that the show is deliberate, and has the U.S. Government's stamp of approval. We have a homosexual, Kenyan-born, Muslim, Marxist in the White House along with a she-beast male transvestite 'First Lady,' a congress full of Eunuchs, and it is abundantly clear to anyone who is not in a coma, that he has, at the forefront of his unimaginably evil agenda, the total destruction of America. Name ANYTHING he has done, and one can only conclude that he deliberately chose the worst possible outcome for America.

If he is to be KING, and end elections, and become the dick-tater of America, and force us all to become rug monkeys bowing to the East three times per day, he must place the country under Martial Law, and do everything in his power to Remove God from society, promote the gay agenda, import Muslim sand maggots and illegals who will all vote Democratic by the millions, destroy Israel, start World War III, and motivate Americans to go at each other's throats for the most trivial of reasons like ... not wanting to bake a wedding cake for a couple of gay guys.

Do you think The Walking Dead is 'just a TV show?' It is much more than that. It is brain washing, and socialist propaganda, IF you are a conspiracy theorist, of course. ;)

If you haven't seen it the original zombie movie Night Of The Living Dead by George Romero from I think 1968 or so is the definitive zombie primer to learn zombie behavior. In most other films or TV shows they copy the premise that zombies are slow mindless creatures that are already dead brought back to life by some virus that reanimates the body but not the brain and zombies require or desire fresh meat . I haven't seen the Walking Dead show or many of the other movies or TV shows because they are mostly derivative of or copy what has come before, in other words I'm all zombied out.

WOW Joejinky, don't hold any of your opinions back. I just read your tirade and can only imagine how many guns and how much ammo is stored in your underground bunker hoping for the zombie apocalypse to come true. Don't forget to stock up on MREs in sufficient quantity for at least twenty years per person you decide to invite into that bunker, if anyone qualifies for that honor.

joejinky - Never has so much drivel been spilled by any single pseudo intellectual. Give me a break, TWD is nothing more than slime coming out of your TV set. That it has anything to do with the environment of today is merely put there by those who claim to know more then the rest of us. Yes, sadly, it is just a TV show.

I am no fan of Obama but there comes a time when a person should just STFU. Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex, but it takes a genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. Get over yourself dude.

Yes, JoeJinky, I agree with TR. Obama is certainly no intelligent fool making things bigger (except for the national debt) or more complex (except for Obamacare). He is certainly moving us in the opposite direction as a country by making it smaller and showing less courage to the world.

If I may try to explain the popularity of any FICTIONAL story or TV show, throughout the history of humanity the unexplained or frightening has mostly been explained by some monster or supernatural being or entity. Why the popularity of stories about sea monsters, bigfoot, ufos being piloted by space aliens , the chupacabra etc.,etc. WE enjoy for the most part stories of monsters that may eat us, we enjoy being scared by ghost stories partly because there are enough real horrors in the world like flesh eating viruses, war, violent out of control police and other people that will shoot you for entering their "compound" without permission. That does not mean that all those stories are somehow real.

I don't see The Walking Dead as so much about zombies. It is simply the vehicle to put the characters in the situation in which they find themselves.
As RebelDog1 alluded to; one could swap the zombies with vampires, gremlins, or killer tomatoes and the story would remain basically unchanged.

It has been said that there are only 7 basic stories in the human drama. Zombies are just a small part in this one.

Ok TR. Explain the popularity of TWD.
There were a lot of TV shows and movies that were wildly popular long before The Walking Dead. Were all of the previous popular shows also government plots and propoganda? If not, explain why I should believe this one is, and all of the others were not?:)

I generally do not waste my time with explanations, most people only hear what they believe supports their position. If you want explanations for its popularity, look it up, I'm sure you'll find some. In fact I know you will. Some you may even agree with.

It's not the program I have a problem with, you are certainly free to watch what you will. Just don't tell me that a zombie TV show has the importance that you place upon it, because it does not. As for the show itself I kind of like the old aphorism, "there's no accounting for taste." If you enjoy it then by all means watch it.

I think Eye makes a good point. Hearing your explanation would be more enlightening than mine.

TWD, and really all Zombie stories, tend to be popular with the gun crowd because it gives us a guilt free, target rich environment.

TWD stands out from less popular zombie stories because it focuses more on the interpersonal relationships, and expanding viewership to more than just men.

I don't mind letting people blow off steam in the "off-topic" section, but this was going down hill quickly.

(Or, am I actually apart of the government conspiracy?)

You are correct Eye, we are all the sheeple that allow the evil government conspiracies to flourish and create monsters in their underground labs to escape to allow that government the opportunity to "save" us from their evil plans of world domination. Or am I missing something, like where are those monsters?

Thanks, Eye. Glad you moderated. I was beginning to think I'd have to avoid the forum for a while until all the hysteria petered out.
