Hi All,

There is nothing wrong with my stock exhaust - works great, I think I am getting decent gas mileage, it isn't nosiy, but I wanted to hang some saddle bags and well, they melted against the exhaust pipes!

The bags I got had a piece of hard plastic riveted along the wheel sides ( other sides are leather). After I unstuck the bags I opened the rear foot pegs, but that made the bags stick out at odd angles and looked dorky, so I just took them off.

I really NEED a way to carry my work tools (and sundries) so was thinking that if the exhaust pipes went lower instead of angled up, then the bags would fit.

I may have to wait until I actually NEED a new exhaust, or I could be encouraged to change the exhaust system if there would be an increase in performance or mileage. I don't want to get louder pipes, as I like listening to my tunes in my helmet when I ride.

So if anyone has any experience with a lower set of pipes could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!Cheers, Kim :)

HI Anlask!

TSorry for leaving out the important bits! the bike is an '82 Yamaha Maxim 750.

Welding them myself isn't something I can undertake. My Moniker leans torwards metal work in a forge ( as in horseshoes) Haven't learned the skills of gas or stick welding.

Was joping more for the possibility of a bolt on change?

Thanks! Kim

I would think it would be cheaper and easier to get a set of sportbike saddlebags, most are already angled to avoid the exhaust.
