Advice on motorcycle jackets

Hi there

im in a puzzle about leather (cowhide) motorcycle jacket sizing - it seems from brand to brand theres no consistancy. My question is if I buy quite a fitted body hugging jacket with armour will it stretch after being worn in a bit or should I go fo a looser one straight off? I say this because Im thinking of going for a 44inch jacket when im actually a 42 but it was still quite small and hugging - really comfortable though but it could do with a little more give.If it stretches in time it should be fine but I wasnt sure if it would stretch that much.Any advice?

thanks

keep it. it'll stretch out a good bit over time. maybe as much as 2 inches on a race jacket.
jacket problem

Thanks 2tall - would you say keep it even if its a little short in the cuff?

I'm 6'5" so I've always had trouble with short cuffs... I would say that if the cuffs don't fit now, you probably won't wear it enough for it to size out. There are some "gauntlet" gloves that may hide or aleviate the short cuffs though. Ultimately, it's your choice.
yes i agree with 2tall, leathers certainly do wear in eventually, but if the cuffs are too short now i'd suggest buying new, and selling what you have while its still in good nick...

just a little ad....;) the big bike shop has a wide range of leathers in stock -

Ah well, im quite new here so sorry to throw in an ad for one of my first few posts.... ww.ryanclark.eu/motojackets.htm

As above, the leather will stretch... but then again if a 44 fits you better straight off and the sleeves are right, then surely it would stay the same size hence not being stretched - no need to stretch etc.
Your choice... Go try some on, or pick someone online who offers a refund if the size doesn't fit! ;-)
