hi everyone, im new to the forum. i have an 81 CB750C. right now it needs a little work. the handlebars were changed out to "drag bars" with a 0" rise and they hit the tank when i turn it all the way left or right. i like the way the handle bars look, so i thought that maybe i could put a tank on it from a supersport or CB750K of the same vintage. the supersport and the 750K tanks look to be skinnier than the 750C. does anybody know if the tanks will interchange? the other problem i have is: after the bike warms up, it has an unusual high idle. (around 3000-3500 rpm). im guesssing this isn't normal. i thought it might be the idle adjustment, but after a google search with no results, i can't seem to find the idle adjustment on the 81 750CC DOHC, just the adjustment for the older SOHC 750 CC's. any help would be great, thanks! :D

You may want to look around for a set of hadlbar risers to fit. They'l raise the bars and maintain the look. J&P Cycle may have something like that to fit metric.

Check the cable routing. If there's any binding, etc., it could keep the carb off of idle. Since the bars have been changed, that would be the first place I'd look. Does the cable length look ok, or are they long with the shorter bars?

Good luck.

thanks for your reply. with the new bars, the cables are longer, however, the previous owner told me that the idle was unusually high eve nbefore he put the new bars on. ill check for the cables binding. i would have got the original handlebars when i bought the bike, but he threw them away. i still like the drag bars pretty well. :D

i have one myslef thats a common problem with that year model engine there should be a adjustment knob underneath the carb body next to #2 carb and there is an adjustment at the handle bar throtle control you may need to have the carbs sinkrinized which is probable the main problem here locally it costs around 125 to 200 to get done but is worth it but i do my own lol good luck
