I just rebuilt the carbs on my 1976 CB550k. I have heard that you can adjust (preset) the slides using a drill bit. Anybody know what what size I should use?

Size isn't too critical - you're just using it to make sure all of them are set about the same. You can fine tune it with a vacuum gauge set after it's running.

I usually just eyeball it with a flashlight.

Yes, you'd be surprised how close you can get them by eyeball.
Probably better than using a drill or wire.

Thanks I will just eyeball it and go from there. Still have a long way to go as the top end needs to be assembled.
