Contemplating a smaller cheaper bike, cheep to insure. just for fun.
I can find a 250 road bike, with reasonable mileage, reasonable shape for not a lot but what would be the point? I have a road bike.

I liked the CRF I rode on my MSA course. Only road it round a parking lot. But I liked it.
Finding a good used dual sport, for a reasonable price. Not so easy.

Craig’s list has one not far away.
At least 5 year old a 2014. Less than 100 k. Think the asking price is to high.
The seller, thinks it’s still a new bike.
My concerns, tires probably NFG. Brake callipers, seised or likley to. Fuel system, bunged up. Bike never even got run in, then left to sit.

Would you ignore it or try and negotiate a better price?
A dealer has a 2016 for about the same price. 9000 k.

This time of year I'd try to get a deal both are happy with. Ask him to prove it runs. He can't so go from there. Have cash in hand of the amount you HONESTLY think it's worth. Then point out all your expenses it will take to get it running. Depending on how long it's been on Craigslist you can deduct even more. I despise lowball types but he may think that's exactly what you are doing unfortunately. But you have nothing to lose by trying except your time. If you are correct in that type of bike is hard to come by, then you don't want to go too low. Take what his asking and start deducting. There's a price there somewhere you both will agree on. Go for it.

Agree with Hogcowboy. Nobody likes low ball offers but if the item appears month after month, it's either a person that refuses to negotiate, an item not like described, or something not a lot of people want.

I've watched things show up on Craigslist month after month that had a price "or best offer". Took a chance on someone else buying first watching and waiting like I did, but I've also got some great deals.

Is that 100 miles or 100k?

A motorcycle riding course guy has Honda 250 s for sale. Asking 1250. Forgot what year they are. He is in Victoria BC.
I see your Canadian flag, but do not know where you are. My location has gone from my name at left.

UK
Looked for the add again couldn’t find it, not to worry, be another option soon enough,
Couldn’t find the guy in Victoria.
I’m on SSI or Vancouver. Victoria close by.

Add quoted 75 k 2014.
In this case, I would have tried negotiating. I once purchased a brand new 2008 scooter in 2018 for $100. Had all of three miles, basically the miles the owner rode from the shop he bought it at to home. Aside from rust (it was stored in a garage that was poorly sealed) it just needed a carb, battery, and new fuel tank to rock and roll. There's another 2008 in my area that routinely pops up with only seven miles on it. Figure it's not selling because the guy doesn't know how to post pictures.

Pro tip: Most people skip over ads when you don't bother to even take a single picture of what you're selling!

Good points.
I skip by when there are no pictures or even only 1
Location not mentioned.
Even basics like mileage or up here kilometres.
This particular bike was posted 2 months ago,
Was wondering if adds expire.
I have contacted a couple to find already sold.

I've used a couple of online bike markets when I was buying, and they don't seem to ever expire. If the poster doesn't take it down it's there forever as far as I could tell. Really annoying. Usually they say how old the ad is, I just ignored the ones more than a few months old.
