Hello ... when starting my 2003 VL800 Vlousia this morning the electric system completely went dark (upon pressing the ignition button). After a while electricity came back, everything is working (but the clock was reset ... so I assume there was a short somewhere), but when I press the ignition button, again everything goes dark.

What could the problem possibly be? Broken starter?

Check your battery terminals. To me it sounds as though one or both may be loose.

I did that ... battery terminals & circuit breakers are ok.

I also here the 'click' of the magnet switch in the starter before everything goes dark.

Fixed it !! Turns out the battery was bad ... swapping out the battery fixed the issue.
