Its been a while since on the forum but want to confirm my suspicion.

I use to drive my bike a lot but now its more occasionally however I still do regular maintenance and bike runs fine.

Today I just went to start it and starter would not stop turning even with key off so stopped it at the battery.

Never replaced starter and obviously turns so think it is the solenoid. Figure use a separate 12V source and put the charge across the solenoid and listen for the click and dead short on multimeter. Key will be on and mc battery disconnected. Did something similar on a car.

" so think it is the solenoid "

Yep, me too. (y) Pretty much the only thing it could be. :)

I just installed a used one. I already had one from a previous project. Going to buy new. Also a colleague from work stated in a pinch you can hit the solenoid, not too hard, to unstick it. It can be stuck open or closed. I did this with my starter on my car to get it home to repair except I used a hammer to hit the starter. Thanks for you help.
