Good day from Oregon. I am trying to help my son with his project Yamaha.
He has a 1982 XJ750J and we have had to rewire a lot of it to change the gage cluster, his was damaged beyond repair. We are down to the oil light and have not been able to locate the sending switch, We have looked all over and have no clue where this is and cannot seem to find the repair manual for this particular model, can anyone enlighten me where to find this switch to complete this project? The bike seems to run great we just don't want to chance ruining the engine over something this minor, he has ridden it for months without a light but just figured it was burned out. at this point the new gages are in place and this is the only thing we have left to get working. any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

According to my Haynes manual (for a XJ600), the sender is bolted to the bottom of the oil pan, about 2 inches away from the oil drain plug. I would think the 750 would be the same or similar. Welcome to the forum.
