I bought a 1994 Katana 750 that was taken apart by the previous owner, because a friend of his said it may have a bad head gasket. He said that one of the cylinders was filling up with gas and essentially making it run on two or three cylinders. I have looked the head gasket over extensively and cannot see any obvious issues. Also, I have looked the head and head cover over and cannot find any issues. Does anyone have any ideas? I would hate to put it all back together just to find out it's not fixed. Thanks for you help. Also, I am a novice at motorcycles, but am very mechanically inclined.

Did you check the carbs? Take a look at the floats and make sure they're set right. Also, make sure that the overflow tube isn't clogged up or something.
