Recently bought a 1980 Honda CM400T which is in working order apart from this issue. When I give it a little throttle slowly and build it up I can run fine, but if I open the throttle quickly, for example, quick acceleration, it just bogs down and sputters as well as some backfiring and smoke. This happens regardless of gear or speed, even in neutral. The carbs were cleaned by a mechanic but that doesn't necessarily mean they're perfect.

I can accelerate slowly and have made 120 km/h but I'd like to make it run like a normal motorcycle.

Any ideas?
