You told me you know the bike in your other post.

When in doubt see if you can find a very knowledgeable Honda mechanic or see if you can just buy all the parts from a salvage bike and replace it all. If you had the opportunity, which my friends in the shop did at times, you could borrow a cdi from a runner and swap them out. If it fixes it, the cdi is the issue. Could do the same with a stator too, but that would be a job.

See if other CM400/450 ignition parts interchange. Any Honda parts dept could tell you if the parts interchange.

cm400 no spark

Hey;
The honda hawk series is a nightmare when it has no spark.The tests(as a whole) in the shop manual are ueseless.The only reliable way to find out which part is bad is to use known good components(spark unit) CDI box or stator assy(they are a matched set).I bought a wrecked 400 many years ago to get test pieces.Even the week I spent in honda electrical school produced no reliable tests for these pieces.I usually try the CDI first(easey)and if you suddenly have spark thats the problem.Then i install the test altenator.I have had two that still did not have spark(had bad coil).But it is usually the CDI or Alternator.I would not want to buy new stuff for this bike without knowing which one is bad,very costly.
Good luck.
