hey all. i just purchased my first bike. its an '07 250 ninja.
sometimes after i've ridden the bike for awhile and then put it back in the garage, the next day when i go to take it out again it idles kinda low when i first start it up. and then when i shift down to 1st it kicks forward a little bit and then dies even though i have the clutch pulled in. any ideas what might be going on there or what i might be doing wrong?

Might be time to lube and adjust the clutch cable.

I've heard that all motorcycle use what's called a wet clutch. This means that the oil from the engine also lubricates the clutch. When you first start up the bike the oil is not only cold but also hasn't been worked around inside the clutch assembly. As the bike warms up the oil gets worked around and warmed up and the jumping goes away. I don't know how true that is but I do know that my bike ALWAYS jumps the first time I put it in first but after that it's fine.

Edit: Oh I have an 04' EX250 by the way
