Replaced stock blinkers with after market -incandescent, 10 watt signals.

Signals do not light at all, relay buzzes.

I tested the blinkers straight to battery, they work.

Multi meter shows about 8-10 volts through hot wire. Is this my problem? Should show 12v right?

I bought a brand new oem relay. It buzzes as well. Signals do not light at all.

Any tips much appreciated. Only thing keeping me from long rides.... thanks in advance.

Blinkers. Flashers for most of these guys. They may have a low voltage cut out system, maybe at about 10.5 volts. You should have 12.75 at the battery, and pretty much the same downstream. I assume they worked okay before you fixed them.

So I have 12volts to the relay now, relay is still buzzing. Checked all bulbs and bulb socket grounds. Double checked all wiring to signals. Fuses are good. Don’t see any breaks or damage to insulation on wires. Looking at the bikes wiring diagram I’m seeing there is a “turn signal control unit”. Anyone know how to test this unit?

Old thread, however in this case I probably would have recommended an electronic flasher relay. OEM relays on old bikes don't like it when you don't use OE spec lights. Electronic relays won't care.
