Default fenders?

((fyi.... 69 suzuki T500 for those who don't know yet))

Does anyone happen to have some extra fenders they don't need? obviously, they don't need to be for a 69 suzuki T500.

I need at least a front fender, but probably a rear one too.. Preferably a cool looking one, but, an old stock one would be fine too as long as it's not completely dinged up, rusty, and falling apart.

The rear one i had on my bike was in good shape, and since i knew i was getting a seat for it, i sold it on ebay with the light fixture etc..

i need another one in not as good of shape that i can mount and chop to fit under the seat. mainly in order to keep dust water etc from getting into the motor area.

as for the front one, my bike didn't come with one when i bought it, but i need one since the cables will drag against the tire when riding / making a right turn.

the thing about the front fender is that it needs to be a specific dimension to mount accurately to the stock mounts, unless it's a universal fit that uses hose clamps, then i'll have to cut the stock mounts off of the forks. which oddly enough, i'm ok with. as long as it works.

I've seen a few that may work on ebay, but i really need to do this on the cheap.

In other words, if you have some fenders that are taking up room and you would like to potentially "donate" them to my cafe racer, - shipping covered by me, or maybe for a few bucks + shipping, i'd be eternally grateful, and would try to repay the favor some day somehow or another.

Chrome, glass, whatever.. i don't care too much.. chances are i'll have to alter them to fit regardless, and it will almost certainly be painted.

i'll measure my bike later and post the dimensions needed.

but preliminary info is that my front tire is 3.25 x 19 (100/90x19) so it needs to fit around that but not be too much wider... 3.75 or 4 is ok probably..

as for the back, i dont think it matters much. i basically just need about an 10" portion of it.

let me know if you have anything, and what the approx measurements are.

thanks in advance.

Lehman's Big Open Road might be a good source at fair prices. Do a google search for them. They just got a web site up.

Owen bought out a japanese bike salvage yard. He has a bunch of 70s-80s stuff and a fender wouldn't be too expensive to ship if they have one. He'd have a front end that would fit, but it would be a bit more costly.

He's reliable and fair. I worked with him when he was a mechanic and I was in sales at Boulevard Honda.

yeah... you've mentioned them a few times.
the thing is, their website hasn't become google searcheable yet. i have found phone numbers, locations etc, but no website..

you mentioned that they just put a site up not long ago.. it can take a month or two before google finds it / if the webmaster knows how to tell google to find it. i had no luck on the actual page.. if you have a url, please pass it to me.

i will check them out, etc.... i was just hoping that someone from the forum would be able to help for a lot less than most yards would sell me something for. but i'll check them out.

thx

Google is how I found the web site. I just typed in Big Open Road and it came up as the second listing.
