For many years I had ridden what ever was available. I have owned Kows, Hondas, HDs and even a Hyosung. When I was taken under the wing of the man who became my mentor and who stood me up with the club. We were kicking back one afternoon looking out over the ocean and talking about nothing worth while. He paused in mid sentence took a long drag off his cigarette and said," these things are killing me" to which I replied,"yea well something has to." Then he made it clear that it was not an empty statement. Then like the conversation never happened he said," you know you can dress any bike up to be your own, but there will always be some one else's name on it unless you build it yourself." We spent the next four plus months together ordering parts, buying odds and ends. Finding a place to paint, smuggling that paint in from british waters. Doesn't sound like much of a smuggle but it can get you 10 years and healthy fine. We were almost done with the whole thing when he went into the hospital. Long story short He never came back out, I rode the bike to the boat the morning we left his ashes to the ocean.... That bike is a part of me, Jon is part of the bike and the world turns.
