Default Taking apart tachometer....

I have the tach off of my 1980 GS550l Suzuki at the moment since I need to replace the bulb....

A while back.... one of the two little screws on the face of the gauge behind the needle vibrated out and I was going to put it back in.. but..

The glass cover doesnt come off... so I cant access the screw.... I have a CLYMER Maintenance book for the bike that tells you everything there is to know about this thing.... and when I got to the teardown diagram for the tach... it shows it tore down as far as I have it now.... it doesnt show that the face comes off....

Im wondering if its just formed on there from the factory after the face and needle are screwed on and im pretty much stuck with that screw bouncing around in there until the end of time....

I dont suppose anyone knows a way to get it off or if Im correct in my assumption or not? Thanks for any help...

Some crappy cell phone pics I uploaded quick.... dont want to get my expensive camera dirty..

You have to carefully cut the front off just behind the black ring to take it apart. Then you glue it back together.

Thanks.....

I'll probably just ignore it before I do that though.....

I did have to modify it a little since I couldnt get the correct replacement bulb.... but it works....

If I hove much more problems.. im just going to remove the gauges... I already had one tach go out and the speedo is getting old also..

Well quess what.... that tach fell apart today LOL....

I went to remove it and realized it shares a mount with EVERYTHING... so I just removed everything LOL

It actually looks good that way.... although its wierd not having a speedo and I have to really pay attention to how much gas I have..

Thanks..... but I mean it actually fell apart inside LOL..... the face even moved so much that it siad the bike was idling at 4500rpm...

I'll just live without it.... but I really do need to make up my own bracket and put the speedo back on.
