Default Removing double stick tape or sticky substances.

I need some help. I installed a sissy bar on my bike last night and had to take off some reflectors and in doing so I have double stick tape residue on the bike now. It is a very sticky substance that will not come off. I tried rubbing alcohol, 10W40 and Goof off but no luck. The fenders are plastic. Anyone have any suggestions?

+1 to my Hoosier neighbor, if it's on a reflector it's most likely 3M adhesive anyway, meant to not come off. Do a test area to make sure (whatever you use) doesn't eat your paint.

Even if some of the ideas given work, try/ follow-up with Cherry Bomb hand cleaner. That stuff, even takes off asphalt! And, it will leave the surface nice and clean for any future stickers or whatever. Safe on plastic.

It will take asphalt up but safe for plastic? Stuff like that scares me.

Like anything else, do a test on a patch under where you will see it. Anyway, it is a hand cleaner so how bad could it be? It leaves zero residue on your hands, unlike other hand cleaners. It does have pumice in it in the form of tiny plastic balls though.

Best wishes,

Eric
