Default Rode first bike?

What was your first street bike and how long did you ride it until you moved up to a bigger bike?

1974 Honda CL350. I rode it for a couple seasons then moved up to a Kawasaki Spectre 750.

Red face

First bike: Triumph Bonneville America 790 cc, 2005.

Rode it for about a year and moved to a smaller bike, technically!! A sportbike, Suzuki SV 650S, which I had for almost 2 years before going smaller AGAIN... to a GSXR 600.

Again though smaller, it has about 25% more HP...and faster acceleration...

I guess i do things differently than most LOL. I keep going smaller and smaller!!

PS what do you mean by a "riding season"

An '81 Honda CX500 Custom that I bought new in June of '82 while stationed in Montreal with the Army. Took it to Germany when I was stationed there in November '82 and rode it until I "upgraded" to a well used '71 BSA Thunderbolt 650 a year later.

I had no choice but to ride a 125 when I was learning, bought a Honda 125 Superdream which I did my test on back in May 1984, then in the July bought a Honda XBR500 (single cylinder), that lasted in my possession for a whole 3 months until I bought a Yamaha XJ600.

1978 Honda CX500. Sole source of transportation in Feb and Mar in Indiana. April rolled around with a bunch of rain and I had to get a car as well.

1998 Suzuki 650. Got it at 3500 miles, engine blew at 5000 miles 3 months later. I got the summer out of it, so I figured I'd go back to a car for the fall/winter. That was just over 7 years ago, and I just now bought another bike.

My first real street bike was a 1970 Honda CL100, got it when I was 12. This pic was taken in a stripmine, just a few weeks after I'd gotten it. I think this was the day I finally realized...I was made for dirt. Within' a few weeks, the lights & turn signals went away, I added knobbies and started racing dirt track. I didn't get another street bike until I was 16 but I remember at 14, I regularly borrowed a friend's Sportster and rode it on the highways. Yeah, ok....I know it was illegal, I was a bad boy. Still, I passed lotsa' cops and none ever looked twice at me...even though I was rather small. I had to push-start the Sportster, I wasn't heavy enough to use the kickstarter.

My first street bike was an 82 KZ1000K2. It was a great bike, but it was one of those that they only made for 2 years, and parts where expensive as hell. If you could find them. There's all kinds of parts for the J modle, but be ware of the K.

Any wase that was 3 years ago and I traded up last June to my 97 Suzuki bandit 1200s, and I love it.

when i was 14 my dad bought me a honda 450. I think it was a 89 or 90. Great bike i was riding a motorcycle before i knew how to drive a car.
I traded it in on a jetski. I am going monday to look at a 80s model honda 750. I plan to buy it. Just shy of what would be 10 years since i had my first and last street bike.

First bike I ever rode was back in '64...yea I'm kinda of old. This bike was a Mustang. How many of you out there even heard of these? Seems like the shift pattern on it was one up, three down, if I'm remembering correctly.

Well call me an idiot but the first street bike I ever rode was an 05 GSXR 1000. Scared the crap outta me. Thank god for all the dirt bike experience so I didn't panic, but I haven't touched a 1000cc sport bike since. I've been riding 800cc cruisers and 600 sport bikes. I'm currently waiting to pick up my vstar 1300

Early 70's Yamaha 350 2 stroke twin with expired plates and no paperwork but I rode it daily. I don't remember what came next.

I'm on my way back down now. Went from an 1100 cruiser to a 500 sportbike. I want a Yamaha WR250X now. I could end up in trouble with it.

First bike was a 1997 Kawasaki ZX-7R, then after a year and a half I moevd up to a 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6. Yes it was a move up because my R6 seems much quicker than my 750 did.

I have fond memories of the Z1-R. I may look for another one someday. I think they are starting to become fairly rare though.

Technically, I never owned a bike of my very ownie untill I traded a '75 Deck Boat/75hp Evenrude for an '81 Gl 1100 Goldwing. ...(stright across trade) back in,...oh?...'92 or so,(when was the first Gulf War?)

I had ridden as a kid on lots of different buddies bikes, but, cause I had an Uncle killed on a bike, my folks never allowed it.

Now, between my wife and I we have 3 street motorcycles.

'93 XV1100 Virago
'03 Valkyrie
'04 VTX1800C

And YES HSartteacher, I will get a pic up. ..I just,...things happen,..you know.
